Brumbies of the Snowy Mountains

Subject: Brumbies of the Snowy Mountains Sun Feb 24, 2013 8:38 am

In this roleplay you are a wild horse that lives in the snowy mountians of Australia. Few people live nearby and the ones that do all have ranches and horses, sometimes they can be seen riding their domestic horses or sometimes they will chase you, hoping to catch you and sell you or catch you and turn you into a valuable domestic horse. In the herd their is usually only one stallion and that is the lead stallion, if their are other stallions in the herd then their is often trouble as most stallions wish to be the leader. Their often fights between two stallions, whether for dominance or for a mare. If you lose a fight with a lead stallion then you are sent on your way to become an outcast with your mate, of coarse you are always welcome to try and start a herd of your own...

Quince trotted though the trees. The dappled shade rippled over her chestnut pelt until she reached the small valley. She smiled as she stepped out into the sun. Seeing none where around the mare headed over to a patch of sweet grass. Her head dropped as she stopped and started to graze.

Tuxedo was trotting around the herd, playing with some young foals. He had to go very slow so they thought they were beating him. "Not bad." he praised.

Quince heard the herd nearby and raised her head to see her mate playing with some of the foals. She smiled and started to walk closer. A niegh rang out from her as she moved closer calling to Tuxedo.

Tuxedo flicked his ears forward at the sound of his mate. He trotted over to greet her. The foals were slightly disappointed but went back to their mothers anyway. "Hello Beautiful." he whinnied as he stopped in front of her.

Quince smiled as Tux came to meet her. "Hello handsome." she nickered nuzzling him. She loved her black stallion and the way he cared for the whole herd. It made her smile when ever she saw him with the foals and she couldnt wait for the one she was carring to be born. It wasnt long now and she would go off on her own and come back with their foal at foot.

"Why yes I am." he joked and nuzzled her softly. Tuxedo honestly couldn't wait to be a father, he had been doing lots of practicing by hanging out with the foals. He had even talked to their mothers for tips. "Not long now, eh." he grinned. Tuxedo wanted to comment about her fat tummy, but instead let it slide. A joke for another day.

Quince looked back at her tummy. "No its not." she said looking back at Tuxedo, "Our first foal." A dreamy smile spread over the chestnut mares face and she let her head rest on Tuxs black chest as she hummed happily. She could feel their foal moving around and from what the other mares had said she only had a few days left before birth.

Tuxedo watched her and smiled. He couldn't wait for the foal to be born, but he wasn't looking forward to being parted from her for a few days while he looked after the herd. "You'll make a great mother." he comments.

Quince pulled her head up to nip his neck. "Thanks and you will be the most kind and caring father a foal could wish for." she said with soft brown eyes.

Tuxedo smiled. He hoped that was true. He glanced back at the herd, who appeared to be watching them. "Nothing to see here." he grins.

Quince laughed as she ambled past him to join the herd and the other mares. "There is always something to see Tux." she said over her shoulder. The other mare laughed and nodded in agreement.

Tuxedo rolled his eyes playfully. He could hear fouls going "Tuxedo and Quince sitting in a-" They stopped immediately when they caught him looking their way.

Quice smiled at the foals. "Dont mind him." she said, "You can keep going." Her brown eyes sparkled with amusment as she looked over at the herds stallion.

Tuxedo pricked his ears forward as he listened to their surrounding. He thought he heard something. Hoofbeats? It wasn't coming from their herd.

Seeing Tuxs ears prick Quices did the same. She snorted in fear at the sound of hoofbeats coming from outside the herd. She shifted her wieght as she swang her striped head towards her mate.

The hoofbeats sounded heavy. Like a horse being ridden by a human. Tux neighed in warning and galloped around the herd. "We have to go NOW." he orders.

Quince neighed loudly in fear as the herd burst into a panic around her. The heacily pregant lead mare split off from the herd going up the hill on a gentlier slope. She climbed as swiftly as she could and reached the top as the horses and their riders came into sight down below.

Tuxedo stayed behind while the herd ran. He watched as the riders came into view with ropes in there hands. They were hoping to catch some of the herd. Tuxedo would have to give the herd some time to get away. Tuxedo jumped onto his back legs and reared up in warning. He let out a loud battle cry.

Seeing Tuxedo down on the valley floor Quince neighed calling for him. She couldnt lose him now. The pregnate chestnut mare stayed were she was as the rest of the herd joined her in watching their stallion and the humans.

One of the riders swung the rope but it didn't catch the stallion in time. Tuxedo galloped away so that there was a safe distance between them. He glanced back at the herd. "I said GO." he neighed loudly.

Quince nodded at the othr mares. "Go." she ordered the mares with foals ready to leave with them, "The rest of you help Tux." The mares nodded their heads and raced down the mountain side towards the humans causing confusion as the lead mare lead the rest of the herd to safety.

Tuxedo galloped past the riders. "If you are our kind, then let us go." he neighed. Two of the ridden horses nodded and reared up, causing their riders to fall off. There was only 3 others of riders left.

Quince headed down into a gully that was well hidden. She was breathing heavily and her sides were covered with sweat from fear. She worried about Tuxedo and the other mares.

The mare bolted past the domestic horses making another two rear up in shock throwing the riders. The third rider kicked his horse forward and followed the small group over rugged ground which resulted in the gelding throwing his rider as he tripped. They head on a back route along the moutain ridge towards the forset gully.

Tuxedo made sure the riders weren't watching where they went, then galloped off after the mares. Tuxedo reached the gully and jumped down with the others. He couldn't hear heavy hoofbeats anymore, they were safe for the time being.
